The role:
The Specialist II – Materials Inspection is responsible for inspecting purchase parts and materials to ensure conformity with standards, specifications, and processing requirements. The role involves dimensional and visual inspections using automated equipment and precision tools (micrometers, gauges, calipers) and verification against purchase orders, blueprints, drawings, and isnpection instructions. The position ensures compliance with technical requirements, makes pass/fail decisions, and maintains accurate inspeciton records. Success in this role contributes to product quality and reulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Authority (if applicable):
Authorized to make pass/fail decisions on inspected materials based on established specifications.
May approve inspection reports within defined technical requirements.
Skills & Experience:
Practical knowledge of inspection techniques and quality standards.
Experience with precision measuring instruments and automated inspection systems.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Basic IT skills for data entry and report generation.
Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications/Education:
Minimum Secondary school education
Must be able to perform general math and algebra functions and understanding of Basic Statistics technics
Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Experience in quality inspection or related field (preferred)
Familiarity with ISO 13485 and related standards is an advantage
Preferred training requirements:
Introduction training for administrative employees
Quality System documents and procedures relevant to all employees (local and Convatec corporate e.g. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Quality Policy, Complaints, relevant GxP documents), including regular re-training when required
Quality System documents and procedures relevant to job performance
Principal Contacts & Purpose of Contact
Internal – Multiple roles – primarily for activities related to the inspection of incoming materials, including ITQA for validation of measuring equipment
External – Equipment suppliers for testing incoming materials, calibraiton and maintenance service providers for equipments related to incoming testing, and suppliers of incoming materials.
Travel Requirements
Occasionally, and primarily during the training period, the frequency may increase.
