Description

The Specialist, Manufacturing Automation, is responsible for Building Automation System (BAS), cold storage, and utility systems for the Digital Manufacturing Operations (DMO) team located at the Durham, NC facility, while actively supporting an inclusive team culture.

 

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical expertise for the assigned area and system(s) to ensure a compliant and reliable supply of product and on time project execution with production shop floor support as needed.

  • Participate as an individual contributor on site projects as a technical subject matter expert (SME) to meet project objectives and realize project benefits.

  • Providing support for regulatory inspections and audits and other validation activities

  • Authoring, or peer reviewing automation incidents, Quality Notifications (QNs), system commissioning and qualification, change control, and other key automation related processes

  • Assisting in the development and review and approval of department SOPs and other site GMP SOPs related to automation and digital activities and adheres to established quality standards

  • Supporting problem solving practices to identify and resolve technical and operational problems; able to collaborate with peers to resolve problems that cross into inter-related units

  • Other duties requested by Management.

Qualifications

 

Education Minimum Requirement:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree OR (3) years BAS Support experience

Required Experience and Skills:  

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a production regulated industry

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a GMP manufacturing automation related role and direct experience with SDLC and change controls

  • Understanding of industrial cyber-security best practices for ICS systems. Able to work alongside corporate security professionals to develop and constantly evolve security standards.

  • Experience with computerized systems data integrity regulatory requirements, such as ALCOA+ principles (Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original, Accurate, Complete, Consistent, Enduring, and Available)

  • Ability to participate in global teams and having flexibility to support global time zones

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with team, peers and area leads

  • Understanding of manufacturing principles/ processes and ability to translate manufacturing requirements into Automation/digital solution

  • Proven track record of analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail

  • Able to demonstrate our Company's Leadership Principles and Enterprise Leadership

  • High personal integrity, credibility, and energy

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Direct experience and accomplishments in Siemens Insight and Siemens Desigo CC Management Level and automation level systems

  • Direct experience with at least one of the three platforms 1) Process Automation (Emerson DeltaV / Allen-Bradley PLCs / Siemens PLCs), 2) BAS, and 3) PI (or equivalent)

  • Experience with formal problem-solving techniques, such as root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode effects analysis (FMEA), and/or Lean Six Sigma tools

  • Experience in deviation management, troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing anomalies

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. The salary range for this role is

$85,600.00 - $134,800.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
