Solicitor (2-3) - Banking and Finance (Real Estate Finance and DCM)

Sydney Full time

We have a fantastic opportunity for a solicitor to join our Banking & Finance practice working with our Real Estate Finance and Debt Capital Markets team.

Our work

You will be responsible for varied challenging and complex legal work. This role will see you work on a wide range of financing transactions with a particular focus on property and corporate finance and debt capital markets transactions for Australian and international clients.

Our team

This role will see you work with Natalie Halpern and Ken Astridge, who lead a team that services leading Australian and international clients on all aspects of their funding needs. While the core team has a real estate focus, it has speciality of looking after the needs of the treasury teams in that sector with an even spread between sponsor and financier side work (giving it a balanced understanding of market issues).  The expectation is a degree of agility and flexibility – to be able to dive into the detail of a complex construction finance while being able to step back and consider the implications of a structured debt instrument on a Corporate Group’s financing position.  It will also open up opportunities to work across the broader KWM Banking & Finance team.

You will have

  • previous experience in a corporate finance, real estate finance and/or debt capital markets role working for a highly regarded banking team

  • excellent technical, analytical, communication and research skills - to contribute to the delivery of prompt and commercially astute advice

  • strong commitment to client service - you will play a role in supporting and actively developing our relationships with clients

  • team focus - to facilitate effective teamwork by developing strong internal relationships

  • enthusiasm to be involved in business development activities - participating in industry related programs and developing strategic relationships and networks

  • first rate experience of drafting documents.

  • a willingness to be challenged, and think creatively and laterally
