As a Software Test Technician, you will report to the Test Operations Technical Lead in the Software Quality Group and be on a team of system technicians that are responsible for testing and upkeep of our internal fleet of Spot robots   You will perform manual robot test procedures, collaborate with hardware engineers, software development engineers, and field application engineers on the health and stability of Spot robots to maximize test time and quality week-to-week.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintain test infrastructure and tools which support hardware and software testing validation and qualification

  • Oversight of Spot robot internal SQA fleet, maintaining constant runtime to validate long duration robustness and reliability.

  • Performs audits and tests of software products in accordance with software test plans and procedures. 

  • Create test plans and test cases from Development Stories, product specifications, and collaboration with Software Developers

  • Debug and characterize defects, providing detailed configuration and descriptions for passing and failing tests for product evaluation reports. 

  • Maintains documentation of test operations and reports results to engineering stakeholders

  • Coordinate with SQA Robotics and Automation Engineers on test plan reviews including new features and regression tests

You’ll be successful in this role if:

  • You have 3+ years of prior experience as a hardware or software technician

  • Previous understanding of robotics systems including sensors, actuators, mechanical and software systems

  • You have a keen attention to detail and accuracy.

  • You have high level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as within a team setting

  • Knowledge of Linux and basic Python syntax

  • You enjoy hands-on testing and fixing hardware, with a ‘tinkerer/builder’ mindset

  • You have experience with software workflow tools, in particular Jira and TestRail
