Are you naturally curious about how things work and what might happen if you think outside the box? If coding and technical challenges excite you, a 12-month internship in software testing could be the perfect opportunity to channel your curiosity.

We're seeking a Software Test Engineering Intern to help develop test solutions for complex wireless systems and products. Working closely with both test and development teams, you’ll receive hands-on support and guidance, allowing you to explore new products and domains. You’ll be involved in designing and creating tests to thoroughly assess products under development, often operating at the intersection of electronics and software.

There is no deadline for this role, as we recruit on a rolling basis. Once the position is filled, we will close the advert. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

About the Test Department

Cambridge Consultants is a world leader in wireless communications, with one of the largest independent wireless development teams in the world.  The markets that we address include telecommunications, healthcare, industrial, satellite, consumer and automotive.

As a test engineer, you will become aware of all forms of testing. You don’t have to know how to do all of them, but need to appreciate what is required, be willing to learn new skills and coordinate getting it done.   You will work with a team who collaborates with other disciplines to test cutting-edge software, hardware, and end-to-end systems.

Our group handles test planning, design, and testing for products across sectors, which includes building custom automation tools (primarily in Python) and developing continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

You will have the opportunity to work on ground-breaking wireless designs, for example:

What you'll be doing

  • Creating test scripts, assisting with the development of bespoke test harnesses, and maintaining DevOps environments.
  • Delivering high-quality code that meets our internal standards.
  • Completing project tasks within the timelines and budgets set by project managers.

As an intern you will be supported with specific training and mentoring and as your experience develops, you will have the opportunity take on further responsibilities.
