Job Description

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Cloud Software Test Engineer to design, execute, and automate comprehensive test cases for our cloud-based applications and APIs. The ideal candidate is passionate about software quality, experienced with agile test management tools such as qTest, Jira, and Confluence, and fluent in writing and debugging tests using Python.

This role will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, analysts, scrum masters, DevOps engineers and other stakeholders to ensure reliable and scalable software releases, with opportunities to test and validate Generative AI features as part of our innovation roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Review user stories and evaluate their acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with others to recognize the potential for any operational issues, assess risks, and help to resolve issues before the new software is complete.
  • Cooperate with other teams to understand full end-to-end use-cases to meet cross-functional requirements.
  • Create and maintain test approaches, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, automated test scripts and execution cycles for cloud-based applications and microservices.
  • Implement software tests, using either manual or automated approaches, as well as exploratory testing. Link them in qTest to user stories and requirements in Jira to assure full traceability.
  • Define and execute positive, negative, boundary, and limit test cases to ensure robustness of software features.
  • Perform API-level testing, validating input/output consistency and response codes.
  • Run diverse sets of system and system integration tests on new or changed software products to ensure they satisfy all specifications and requirements and evaluate results.
  • Support or validate features related to Generative AI, such as model responses, prompt evaluation, or content moderation logic.
  • Debug and isolate issues by reviewing application logs, stack traces, and API responses.
  • Write detailed, high quality defect reports for any issues encountered during testing activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure all defects are logged, triaged, and tracked through resolution.
  • Provide feedback to cross-functional teams and stakeholders regarding usability and functionality and provide understandable test reports and coverage metrics.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies — sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives; providing input from testing throughout the development lifecycle.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, or other relevant work experience.
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience in software testing on agile projects with a focus on test automation.
  • Experience with test design, set-up of test approaches and test plans.
  • Solid experience with Python frameworks like pytest or unittest.
  • Experience in testing web services using Postman, Python requests, or cURL.
  • Experience with relational databases and/or NoSQL.
  • Good experience with testing in the cloud.
  • Interest in the newest testing and test automation trends and best practices.
  • Good in analyzing problems and developing solutions.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication in English.
  • Team player with innovative thinking.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions).
  • Familiarity with Generative AI systems or testing LLM-based applications.
  • Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of AWS or other cloud infrastructure services.
  • Background in performance testing or security testing tools.
