Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Principal Software Integration and Test Engineer (Level 4) to join our highly qualified and diverse Ground Systems Software Integration and Test team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned software integration and test engineer highly experienced in translating requirements and software design documentation into comprehensive integration test strategies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in developing automated tests, generating test reports, driving quality assurance best practices, and mentoring team members in a dynamic environment. This position is located onsite in Manhattan Beach, CA.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and refine comprehensive test strategies and plans that cover functional, integration, and regression testing

  • Analyze system requirements and software design documents to create detailed, effective test cases and test validation plans

  • Leverage modern DevOps pipelines to ensure seamless integration of testing processes across the software development lifecycle

  • Design and implement automated test scripts using established frameworks and integrate them within Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipelines

  • Collaborate closely with software developers and cross‑functional teams to enhance test coverage, identify areas for improvement, and drive overall software quality

  • Generate and review detailed test reports from automated and manual test executions, tracking trends and proposing optimizations

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior test engineers, fostering best practices and continuous improvement in testing methodologies

  • Recommend and evaluate new testing tools and technologies to streamline testing processes and maintain NGSP’s commitment to quality

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science degree; 6 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD

  • Active SSBI required at the time of application with the ability to obtain SCI prior to start

  • Working knowledge of the software life cycle development principles and processes

  • Experience in software integration and testing with the ability to translate requirements and design documents into test cases

  • Experience with modern Automated Testing Frameworks such as Robot, PyTest, JUnit, or similar

  • Experience in Agile methodologies

  • Familiar with CI/CD processes and pipeline automation

  • Experience with generating automated test reports through pipelines

  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and contribute to technical discussions with fellow team members, cross-organizational teams, and management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience testing applications in Kubernetes environments

  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)

  • Experience with Gitlab

  • Experience in formal software qualification/requirements verification testing

Primary Level Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
