Where are we?  

Situated on the southern edge of the Lehigh Valley and easily accessible from northern Philadelphia suburbs and the surrounding areas, the Quakertown facility is our North American hub for the design and manufacturing of leading dental imaging devices and software.  The facility has a growing, energetic, and diverse mix of professionals spanning engineering, operations, regulatory and quality backgrounds that work collaboratively in the fast-paced medical device field.  A friendly and open atmosphere helps to foster strong personal and professional relationships across the organization.    

Position Summary:

The Software Engineering Manager leads a multi-site team in the execution of complex projects to develop and launch diagnostics devices and customer facing tools that are on time, within specification and cost in the regulated medical device industry. The position is responsible for the tactical planning and project management of these projects and facilitates their delivery via Envista Business Systems tools and processes. The position uses a depth and/or breadth of specialized knowledge to interpret internal and external business issues, recommend best practices, and solve complex problems with a broad perspective and innovative solutions. The position works independently with guidance only in the most complex solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads multidisciplinary software development team in the development and sustainment of medical device software and associated infrastructure and support tools.
  • Initiates New Product models, derivatives, and specials as necessary to meet agreed upon customer needs. Supply input for Strategy planning and product direction.
  • Partners with Product Management, Service, Training, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure successful preparation for and execution of commercial launch.
  • Directly assists the team with development of key initiatives and functions as an individual contributor for select projects.
  • Communicates clarity of priorities, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and resolves gaps in understanding to maintain project momentum and organizational cohesion.
  • Is extremely proactive and customer responsive.  Customer feedback should be positive regarding response quality and timeliness. Provides engineering advice, compiles data, and determines probable costs for process improvement projects.
  • Proactively leads root cause / countermeasure exercises and drives actions to closure in a timely manner.
  • Drives continuous improvement of execution through the team’s use of EBS (Envista Business System) culture and tools, particularly Visual Project Management and Daily Management.
  • Uses RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consult, Inform) to ensure ownership and execution of activities and provides deliverables to the appropriate team members and functional leaders.
  • Represents project activities during audits, both internal and external (FDA, ISO, etc.) and during stakeholder report out events.
  • Identifies and implements targeted improvements to processes, work instructions, and forms.
  • Leads execution of change orders related to the project.
  • Prioritizes and successfully manages multiple projects / priorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or other technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in new product development and/or design transfer, including leadership responsibility (project and/or functional).
  • 3+ years of experience in supervisory or project management role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related
  • Formal project management training or certification.
  • Ability to work as both individual contributor and as part of multi-disciplinary team
  • Medical Device or other regulated industry experience.
  • Azure or AWS infrastructure and service development
  • React, Angular, Electron and related technologies
  • C, C++, C#, .NET, Microsoft Windows, Python
  • Ci/CD Pipeline, Terraform, YAML
  • Familiarity with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, JIRA, JAMA, Master-Control)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.  At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
