Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

What You Will Do:

VOD Tooling Team (VODOX) - This team is responsible for the management of VOD content management tools across the Disney+ and Hulu spaces. This means monitoring of incoming content from over 400 partners, as well as tools and workflows for quality control and review of the entire content library.

On any given day you might:

Enhance Operator Dashboards: Build or refine React-based UI components for internal tools that help operations teams monitor VOD ingest, transcode, and QC job status.

Bug Fixes & UI Polish: Triage and fix front-end bugs (styling, responsiveness, or state handling), improving the usability of workflow dashboards used by operators

API Integration: Connect new or existing UI components to backend APIs that surface job metadata, logs, or automation results from the media pipeline.

User Experience Improvements: Conduct small user interviews or shadow operator sessions, then prototype UX enhancements to streamline day-to-day operational workflows.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as JavaScript or Typescript 

  • Knowledge and experience in integrating with REST APIs

  • Experience in programming with one or more general purpose programming languages (Java, Python, etc)

  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Node

  • Solid understanding of web accessibility fundamentals

  • Understanding of relational and non-relational databases (SQL, NoSQL)

  • Understanding of source control concepts and systems, CI/CD pipelines and exposure to Git

  • Basic understanding of web accessibility fundamentals

Education:

  • Junior or Senior year preferred

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in
    Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related technology degree.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants:  You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.  

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information  

  • Fully available from M-F, 40 hours each week for the entire program duration: May/June - August/September 2026 (12 weeks)

  • Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in Santa Monica, CA or New York, NY is $42.00 per hour.
