As a Software Engineer – Level 3 or Level 4 located in Dulles, VA, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.

Software Engineers will be a critical member of one or more Agile Scrum Teams. After hours or extended work-week may be required.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Your Role and Impact:

  • Development of mission unique software layer services and applications.
  • Applications will span languages and toolsets including bash, Python, C++, Postgres SQL, and STOL.
  • Use static code analysis to identify shortfalls and plan remediation activities.
  • Self-starter capable of taking initiative, making decisions with overall project budget and schedule in mind, and investigating/trouble-shooting software issues.
  • Convert legacy python apps from python version 2 to 3.6 and re-architect where appropriate.
  • Provide level of effort (LOE) estimates for identified activities and remediation efforts.
  • Have strong communications skills to work with multi disciplined engineers to design and deliver re-architected existing applications and desired to be applications.
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

This position can be filled at either a Level 3 or Level 4.

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.  Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application
  • Familiarity with Agile programs
  • Experience with the design, build, and deployment of software products
  • Experience in producing software documentation
  • Experience with Python application programming

Basic Qualifications for Level 4:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 6 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 4 years of professional experience.  Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application
  • Familiarity with Agile programs
  • Experience with the design, build, and deployment of software products
  • Experience in producing software documentation
  • Experience with Python application programming

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Strong Linux Operating System experience
  • Strong software integration and test experience
  • Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines and tools

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
