Software Development Engineer in Test

India - Chennai Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support our mature and long-standing Cityworks AMS and PLL web applications. In this role, you will ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of the product through a mix of manual and automated testing. You will collaborate closely with developers and other QA engineers to identify, track, and resolve software defects while contributing to the growth of our automated test suite with a specific focus on cyber security needs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, confirm, document, and process bug cases.

  • Work with stakeholders, support, and the product team to investigate and verify software defects, including potential cybersecurity issues.

  • Assist in maintaining and expanding the Cityworks automated test suite using Visual Studio and Selenium WebDriver.

  • Execute tests across multiple environments (SQL Server, Oracle, Windows Server, etc.) and analyze findings from the Cyber Security Team.

  • Read and analyze log files to troubleshoot issues and support root-cause analysis.

  • Configure complex systems, install, and update software as part of test setup and validation.

  • Contribute to QA best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with software quality assurance processes and Jira bug tracking system.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including identifying, testing, and supporting the remediation of potential security vulnerabilities.

  • Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (preferably Selenium WebDriver).

  • Experience with Visual Studio or similar development/test tools.

  • Working knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle).

  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to interpret log files, security scans, and penetration test results.

  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments, IIS, installation, and software configuration.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience testing enterprise-scale software applications.

  • Knowledge of Esri GIS, Cityworks, or other asset management software.
