Watts Water Technologies is seeking a Software Developer to focus and contribute to New Product Development (NPD) initiatives. The Software Developer will collaborate cross-functionally to design, develop, and test proprietary electronic controls for hydronics heating systems. This role will drive innovation from concept through final acceptance within the Watts Applied Solutions (WAS) business unit.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This position reports to the Embedded Software Engineering Supervisor. This role is onsite and is based in Blauvelt, NY.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Skilled in designing and implementing complex algorithms, including PID control and cryptography functions
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications & GUI applications based on product specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software to improve performance and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure best practices and maintain code quality.
  • Document development processes, code changes, and technical specifications for future reference and team collaboration.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development practices.
  • Ensure software meets security, compliance, and performance standards.
  • Test and validate software functionality through unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Support deployment and post-release activities, including monitoring and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, test & validation, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Embedded Software Engineering Supervisor or Company management.
  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

  • Travel Requirements: up to 5%

Required Qualifications

  • Must have experience contributing and leading software development projects.
  • 7+ years’ work experience as applicable.
  • Extensive experience with Software development using C++
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient code using C++ & Qt framework.
  • Expertise in designing and releasing graphics-intensive applications and graphic engines.
  • Experience with developing Real-time systems, API Development and complier plugins in Linux environment.
  • Expert in C++, Unit Testing, Qt, and Embedded Linux
  • Experienced in GUI and graphics development
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, SQL and wxWidgets.
  • Experience with version control using Git & GitHub.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, maintain strong working relationship with all internal groups.
  • Proficient in business applications – MS office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including drug screen, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years leading software development projects.
  • Familiarity with cloud communication such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Experience with Qt5 Framework and GUI or similar environment.
  • Experience with ARM, Microchip or similar microcontrollers.
  • Familiar with Ethernet/IP, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, and MQTT
  • Experience with BACnet is a plus

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working in an office environment. You will be required to work in the office at the Blauvelt, NY location three days per week (Monday – Wednesday) and can work remotely two days per week (Thursday and Friday).

Pay Range:

The expected salary range for this position is $153K - $172K yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.”
