Job Summary: The VA Eastern Oklahoma Health Care System, Social Work, is currently recruiting for one (1) Social Worker (Program Coordinator) - State Veterans Home Medical Center Representative in Tulsa, OK or Muskogee OK.

  • VA Careers - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: https://youtube.com/embed/U_xC25QsN0w Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System (EOVAHCS) is a Joint Commissioned accredited Level 1c complexity that consists of a 61-bed hospital located in Muskogee as well as six community-based outpatient clinics located in Tulsa, Bartlesville, Claremore, Vinita, McAlester and Idabel. In 2021, Congress approved federal funding for a new Veterans Hospital in Tulsa which will be the first hospital to be built under the Communities Helping Invest through Property and Improvements Needed for Veterans Act of 2016. The State Veterans Home (SVH) program dates to the post-Civil War era when several States established homes to provide shelter and care for homeless and disabled soldiers and sailors. In 1888, Congress first authorized Federal grants-in-aid to States that maintained these homes. Today the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) SVH Program is a grant program that provides Federal assistance to States by paying a percentage of the cost of the construction and paying per diem for providing care to eligible Veterans in the facility once VA recognizes the home as a SVH. SVHs are owned, operated, managed, and financed by the individual States. VA does not have legal authority over the management or operation of a SVH. VA ensures that SVHs comply with applicable Title 38 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 51 regulations through surveys, audits, and reconciliation of records. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and maintains effective working relationships and communicates with Veterans, staff, and other parties as appropriate. Utilizes knowledge of community resources, makes referrals to the community and other government agencies as appropriate, and coordinates services. Independently conducts psychosocial assessments and treatment interventions to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds. Provides consultation, education, and advocacy Utilizes a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities in treatment or with specialized Veteran populations, including individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy, and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management. Incorporates complex multiple causations in differential diagnoses and treatment within approved clinical privileges. Utilizes knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring Utilizes knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program Has the ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program Demonstrates skills in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program areas. Qualifications: Basic Requirements: Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part). English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: . In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. Social Worker (Program Coordinator), GS-12 Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: (a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. (b) Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. (c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. (d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). (e) Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice. Preferred Experience: Clinical Social worker with experience working with clients with mental illness preferred. Experience with program development and management and organizational skills preferred.
