We do this by engaging with our communities, identifying and mitigating the social impacts of our operations, and delivering benefits through social investment.
You will be working closely with the Societal Impact and Energy Transition Program Manager and business colleagues in the country, as well as the regional and global Social Performance Centre of Excellence in Shell.

What you’ll be doing

As the Social Investment Senior Advisor, your main priorities will include:

  • Identifying and designing meaningful social investment programmes in line with the strategy

  • Selecting and managing delivery partners to help us implement our social investment programmes

  • Driving implementation of the social investment programmes, with clear oversight and regular review of performance against goals and targets

  • Developing and executing monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans for our social investment programmes, jointly with our delivery partners

  • Undertaking social baseline and evaluation studies as needed to help inform and continuously improve social investment programmes

  • Developing and implementing impact-led communication plans for internal and external stakeholders

  • Engaging leaders to create a shared vision and internal alignment on Shell Brazil social investment objectives and activities

  • Representing Shell externally and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders including communities, government, joint venture partners, civil society organisations, among others

  • Proactively identifying and managing risks to the social investment programmes, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities to ensure the programmes remain externally relevant, impactful, and efficient

  • Developing and coordinating the disaster response plans for supporting communities where needed

  • Ensuring compliance with Shell’s business principles, ethics, and compliance standards

  • Ensuring budget and activity planning and tracking progress, and compliance with Shell’s global reporting requirements for social investment spend and outcomes

What you bring

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • 15+ years of experience with qualifications relevant to social development

  • Significant experience and proven track record in designing and delivering social development programmes, in particular related to STEM skills, enterprise development, and livelihood programmes

  • Experience working with corporates in designing and delivering social programmes with a good understanding of business processes and influencing senior business leaders

  • Extensive external network in the development sector to help create strong collaborations and partnerships

  • Experience managing external delivery partners

  • Experience in developing monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks; measuring and reporting impacts

  • Strategic and critical thinking skills to design and develop new programmes, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems

  • Strong communication (written and verbal), presentation, and facilitation skills; business fluency in English is a minimum requirement

  • Excellent collaboration, stakeholder influencing, and management skills across organizational boundaries and different levels of seniority, without direct authority

  • Ability to uphold high-quality standards, anticipate and manage risks

  • Excellent project/programme management skills

  • Solid team leadership skills

  • Learner Mindset – role model curiosity and reflection, and encourage people to learn from mistakes and successes

  • Maximise performance – Integrate and collaborate across boundaries to maximise commercial value for the organisation as a whole
