What’s the role
You will be a key player in our Societal Impact and Energy Transition program team in Shell Brasil’s Corporate Relations team. One of our objectives is to create a positive presence and legacy in the communities and countries in which we operate and to be a trusted and responsible neighbour. We do this by engaging with our communities, identifying and mitigating the social impacts of our operations, and delivering benefits through social investment.
You will be working closely with the Societal Impact and Energy Transition Program Manager and business colleagues in the country, as well as the regional and global Social Performance Centre of Excellence in Shell.
What you’ll be doing
As the Social Investment Senior Advisor, your main priorities will include:
Developing and implementing a robust social investment strategy for Shell in Brazil that is aligned with our business objectives in-country, Shell’s Group social investment strategy and requirements, and the social context of our communities
Identifying and designing meaningful social investment programmes in line with the strategy
Selecting and managing delivery partners to help us implement our social investment programmes
Driving implementation of the social investment programmes, with clear oversight and regular review of performance against goals and targets
Developing and executing monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans for our social investment programmes, jointly with our delivery partners
Undertaking social baseline and evaluation studies as needed to help inform and continuously improve social investment programmes
Developing and implementing impact-led communication plans for internal and external stakeholders
Engaging leaders to create a shared vision and internal alignment on Shell Brazil social investment objectives and activities
Representing Shell externally and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders including communities, government, joint venture partners, civil society organisations, among others
Proactively identifying and managing risks to the social investment programmes, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities to ensure the programmes remain externally relevant, impactful, and efficient
Developing and coordinating the disaster response plans for supporting communities where needed
Ensuring compliance with Shell’s business principles, ethics, and compliance standards
Ensuring budget and activity planning and tracking progress, and compliance with Shell’s global reporting requirements for social investment spend and outcomes
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
15+ years of experience with qualifications relevant to social development
Significant experience and proven track record in designing and delivering social development programmes, in particular related to STEM skills, enterprise development, and livelihood programmes
Experience working with corporates in designing and delivering social programmes with a good understanding of business processes and influencing senior business leaders
Extensive external network in the development sector to help create strong collaborations and partnerships
Experience managing external delivery partners
Experience in developing monitoring, evaluation, and learning frameworks; measuring and reporting impacts
Strategic and critical thinking skills to design and develop new programmes, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
Strong communication (written and verbal), presentation, and facilitation skills; business fluency in English is a minimum requirement
Excellent collaboration, stakeholder influencing, and management skills across organizational boundaries and different levels of seniority, without direct authority
Ability to uphold high-quality standards, anticipate and manage risks
Excellent project/programme management skills
Solid team leadership skills
