Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This a Regular Full-Time position. Regular Full-Time employees have a regular and continuous work schedule of at least 35 hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Major Duties:

  • 1. Diagnoses malfunctions of outboard motors, snow machines, travel trailers, A TVs, motor vehicles and other equipment to determine the source of trouble and to determine the extent of repairs required, including electrical systems, geared units, and components. According to manufacturers' manuals, tears down, adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on equipment. Times and adjusts engines to operating tolerances, using specialized testing equipment, such as compression testers, analyzers, test benches, and specialized measuring instruments. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and or shifts. 2. Instructs patrons in all phases of safety regulations concerning use of boats, motors and other issued equipment. May collect fees for rental of equipment and prepare daily cash reports and deposit funds. 3. Determines supplies and parts needed for repair of equipment items. Must maintain maintenance records on all equipment repaired, annotating labor hours, materials, and date of repair. Based on these records, determines bench stock required and maintenance schedules. 4. Adheres to all required AF fire/safety policies, OSHA and HAZMA T/HAZCOM requirements and maintains all required documentation. 5. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of outboard boat motors and gasoline motor malfunctions. This experience must have provided a thorough knowledge of and the ability to test and troubleshoot components and systems to locate marine equipment defects; interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, diagnostic codes, and safety manuals; operate electronic test equipment. Experience in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul snow machines, travel trailers, ATVs and motor vehicles is preferred. Must be physically able to frequently lift, handle and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and with assistance, objects up to and over 50 pounds. Must be able to frequently stand, bend, stoop, crawl, and work in tight spaces for long periods of time.
