Job Scope: We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Site Services Manager to lead and coordinate engineering support services at our chemical manufacturing facility in Conroe, TX. This nested contractor role will be embedded on-site and serve as the primary interface between the plant and the contracted engineering services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the effective delivery of engineering design, construction oversight, project controls, document control, and procurement support. A strong focus on safety, performance metrics, and continuous improvement is essential.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Leadership & Oversight
Lead and manage a cross-functional team of engineering and support professionals.
Act as the primary liaison between site and contracted engineering services.
Champion a safety culture, ensuring all activities are conducted with the highest regard for health, safety, and environmental standards.
Promote proactive safety engagement, hazard identification, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
Lead teams to deliver on Huntsman commitments with high performance and accountability.
Engineering & Design Management
Oversee the execution of engineering design work, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and site specifications.
Drive consistency, quality, and efficiency in engineering deliverables.
Identify and implement opportunities to optimize engineering workflows and reduce cycle times.
Lead resolution of design issues across disciplines and project teams, ensuring Huntsman and industry standards are met.
Manage engineering budgets and schedules, including scope changes
Strategically manage utilization of home office teams to achieve effective results. Construction Oversight
Direct and support field construction managers to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of construction activities.
Monitor construction progress, resolve field issues, and ensure alignment with engineering deliverables and project schedules.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engineering productivity, cost, schedule adherence, and quality.
Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement across engineering and construction support functions.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
Project Controls & Reporting
Oversee project controls resources to ensure project control data is readily available for project managers.
Document Control
Ensure proper documentation practices are followed, including drawing management, change control, and records retention.
Maintain compliance with internal and external documentation standards.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or relevant experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree would be considered.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in engineering, construction, or field execution within the chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven experience managing field construction teams and contractor organizations.
Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives
Strong knowledge of construction safety practices, project controls, procurement processes, and document management systems.
Experience in developing and leveraging KPIs to drive team performance and process improvements.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with OSHA and PSM regulations is preferred.
Experience with capital project execution in a chemical or industrial manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of engineering and construction software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Navisworks, Primavera, SAP, etc.).
Training or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
