Shipping Clerk - 1st Shift

The Shipping Clerk, located in Rensselaer, IN, is responsible for processing all documentation related to inbound and outbound freight loads, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to Donaldson’s records retention policies. This role supports smooth logistics operations through strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and collaboration across departments.

Hours of Work

  • 1st Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (overtime: 3:30 AM – 2:00 PM)
  • 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:30 PM (overtime: 2:30 PM – 1:00 AM)

Role Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process bills of lading, manifests, and related shipping documents for inbound and outbound loads
  • Coordinate carrier pickups and deliveries via phone, email, or fax
  • Verify and process packing details and order documentation
  • Reprint and adjust pick lists as needed to ensure shipment accuracy
  • Retrieve and verify backup locations via Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Create and verify customs and export documentation for international shipments (e.g., Dangerous Goods, Commercial Invoices)
  • Maintain and organize files for all transportation-related records (BOLs, manifests, etc.)
  • Run and distribute daily operational and transportation reports
  • Provide administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 70 lbs (team lifts up to 170 lbs)
  • Experience operating power industrial equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Reliable and consistent attendance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Familiarity with RF and Voice Picking systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of transportation documentation, shipping, or logistics processes
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment
