The Safety & Health Manager (Construction Safety Officer) is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Korea’s Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Elekta’s global safety standards during medical linear accelerator, Gamma Knife, and related equipment installation projects. The role oversees all construction-related safety activities, contractor control, documentation, and onsite safety supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety management for all Elekta installation and construction-related activities at customer sites (e.g., hospital bunker construction, equipment installation).

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and relevant Enforcement Decrees in Korea.

  • Conduct site safety assessments, hazard identification, and risk mitigation planning.

  • Manage contractor safety coordination, including toolbox meetings and activity-specific safety briefings.

  • Prepare mandatory safety documentation and submit appointments/notifications to relevant government authorities.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Elekta Korea’s Safety Management System.

  • Support incident/near-miss reporting, investigation, and corrective action plans.

  • Ensure proper use of PPE, site access control, and adherence to safe work instructions.

  • Provide continuous safety training for internal teams (OF, Service, PM) and external contractors.

  • Participate in internal/external audits and respond to compliance findings.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date safety records, reports, and regulatory submissions.

  • Regularly communicate with regional and global safety teams to align on best practices.

Relevant knowledge, skills and competencies

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, or related field

  • lMust hold one of the following Korean national licenses:

건설안전기사 (Construction Safety Engineer), or

산업안전기사 (Industrial Safety Engineer)

  • Completion of legally required safety supervisory training

Experience

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in construction safety, industrial safety, or installation site safety

  • Experience supporting installation of heavy equipment, medical devices, or construction projects

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements under OSHA (Korea)

Competencies

  • Strong site supervision and field coordination skills

  • Excellent documentation, communication, and reporting ability

  • Ability to enforce safety compliance and lead incident investigations

  • Proactive risk assessment capability

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with OF, Service, PM, and contractors

Authorities

  • Authority to stop unsafe work immediately on any Elekta-managed site.

  • Authority to require corrective actions from contractors and project teams.

  • Authority to report safety compliance status directly to senior management.

  • Approval authority for safety-related procedures during installation activities.

  • Authority to manage and approve safety documentation for project execution.
