Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Structural Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. The role may be filled at either level, based upon candidate experience.
As part of the Sentinel AVE Loads & Environments team, your technical expertise and analytical prowess will play a vital role in thermal analysis, including Thermal Protection System (TPS) design/sizing, Transient Heat Transfer Simulations, and Active Cooling Analysis. This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Principal Engineer: 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD
Sr. Principal Engineer: 8 years of relevant experience with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Year with PhD
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines (e.g. systems engineering, aerodynamics, stress analysis, design, test) in a highly integrated team environment
Experience in programming and use of MATLAB (or equivalent) for analysis and data manipulation
Experience with finite element method or finite difference method thermal analysis software (Thermal Desktop, and Ansys)
Basic knowledge of Heat Transfer methods and principles
Experience modeling with commercial finite element modeling software (Femap/Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, etc)
Experience working with a team that shares models, performs peer reviews, configuration management
Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college/university
Experience working strategic or tactical missile programs
Experience with high performance computing, management of large sets of data.
Experience with Thermal Desktop
Experience with Integrated System Level Thermal Models and/or Component/Unit Level Thermal Models
Experience Correlating Thermal Models to Test Data
DoD Secret Clearance (or higher)
