Position Overview
As a Wind Measurement Technician, you will be responsible for managing wind measurement systems (meteorological masts and LiDAR units), collecting data, and responding to technical issues for wind power projects under development in Hokkaido and the Tohoku region.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and install wind measurement systems in collaboration with project developers and wind analysis engineers
• Monitor and collect data from wind measurement systems and share with relevant stakeholders
• Coordinate with installation contractors, equipment manufacturers, and LiDAR vendors for regular mechanical and electrical maintenance and overhauls
• Respond to system malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed
• Manage inventory of wind measurement equipment
• Propose improvements related to wind measurement practices
• Review and update work procedures and manuals
• Continuously acquiring knowledge and technical skills through participation in training sessions and internal meetings
Required Qualifications
• Proactive and positive attitude
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to either Sapporo, Hokkaido or Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo
• Willingness and ability to frequently travel from Sapporo to observation sites
• Willingness and ability to travel from Tokyo to observation sites in Hokkaido and Tohoku
• Strong communication skills, including coordination with tower installation contractors, equipment manufacturers, and LiDAR vendors
• Driver’s license (Automatic transmission only is acceptable)
• Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
• More than two years of relevant work experience, particularly in fieldwork
Experience working in the renewable energy industry
Experience handling LiDAR units and meteorological masts
Physical ability to work in mountainous areas of Hokkaido
Experience using snowmobiles for travel in snowy terrain
Experience driving on snow-covered roads
Ability to perform high-elevation tasks using ladders or lifting platforms
Ability to safely transport and handle observation equipment weighing approximately 45 kg
• Capacity to manage and coordinate multiple wind measurement projects concurrently
• Strong troubleshooting and issue resolution skills
