Additional Information:

Is an expert Sonographer, capable of performing quality routine and specialized Ultrasound procedures. May serve as a Preceptor to newer Staff members. May serve as Lead when Lead Technologist is out.

Required Education:

Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma

Recommended Education:

Bachelor's Degree

Required Work Experience:

Direct - 6 years of experience

Recommended Work Experience:

Direct - Pediatric

Required Certifications:

1 of the following license or registry is required - -  , RDMS (PS) – ARDMS - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

Recommended Certifications:

ARRT – R.T.(S) or R.T.(VS) - American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT), RDMS, AB, OB/GYN, RVT, VT - American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)

Description

1. Is an expert Sonographer, and can proficiently perform diagnostic exams as directed by Radiologist. Is able to recognize examination findings that may require immediate clinical response and notifies the interpreting radiologist. May serve as a Preceptor.

2. May serve as a Preceptor in troubleshooting and reporting malfunctioning equipment.

3. Explains procedures to patients and families in an effective manner.

4. Oversees student activity and participation.

5. May serve as a Preceptor in demonstrating knowledge of all emergency equipment/supplies.

6. Ensures that work area is properly maintained.

7. Demonstrates expertise in all areas of sonography and ability to communicate this expertise to coworkers. Acts as expert on equipment/protocols and effectively communicates this knowledge.

8. Assists with service recovery, ensuring proactive communication with patients and families

9. Participates in performance improvement activities.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.
