You are someone who loves crafting pixel perfect design, and deeply curious about how something is made, you will drive and apply our design language across various digital channels and platforms. You’ll partner closely with our Engineers, Product Designers, and Business SMEs in an agile environment to champion the CommSec design system, across beautifully crafted, seamless, and accessible experiences. You'll balance your technical skillset and system thinking with hands-on design execution and play a core role in advocating design systems and standards while shaping consistency and quality in our products.

Key responsibilities

  • Design detailed user interfaces across CommSec’s digital platforms and channels
  • Evolve CommSec's design language, improving design foundations, consistency, and informing visual identity guidelines
  • Champion and contribute to the CommSec design system, ensuring cross-platform alignment, design principles, and accessibility standards are met
  • Design experiences that scale with our platform strategy while anticipating customer needs
  • Develop prototypes and visual narratives to shape future experience direction
  • Produce clear design documentation for teams working in a scaled agile environment
  • Partner with engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver aligned, high-quality solutions
  • Lead and participate in critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies to share feedback and improve outcomes
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across all stages of the agile lifecycle
  • Measure and refine designs post-launch using qualitative and quantitative insights
     

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years designing digital user interfaces within cross-functional product teams
  • Expertise in user interface and visual design with a mastery of modern design tools
  • Experience maintaining and evolving visual identity and design language
  • Skilled in building and maintaining scalable, accessible, and modular design systems
  • Technically minded and systems thinking, strong collaborator with engineering teams
  • Experienced designing for Web, iOS and Android, with solid understanding of UI frameworks
  • Success contributing to and evolving design systems that drive measurable outcomes
  • Confident within human-centred design and agile product development environments
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and balancing customer needs with business goals
  • Strong collaboration and presentation skills, working across diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional UI design and design system thinking with clear impact

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to product design and the end-to-end product design lifecycle
  • Passion for mentoring others and uplifting the broader design craft in the organisation
  • Experience designing for AI, or integrating AI productivity into your workflow
  • Experience in front-end frameworks and languages (React, Swift, Compose, or similar)
  • Experience working within the Finance industry, or large-scale enterprise organisations
  • Experience working in businesses providing both physical and digital products and services
