Senior Technologist 
Location: Swindon, UK

Position summary; Monday – Friday 37.5 per week.

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Development Engineer / Senior Technologist to lead the optimisation of the Zydis Ultra manufacturing process and drive innovation in scale-up and commercialisation. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong communication and negotiation skills, ensuring that process improvements meet GMP standards, business objectives, and customer expectations.

The Role:

  • Process Optimisation: Critically review and refine the Zydis Ultra mixing and dispensing processes, conducting trials and implementing improvements to achieve project and business goals.
  • Technical Leadership: Apply engineering and scientific principles across mixing technologies, pumping/metering systems, and suspension handling to recommend and install optimal equipment solutions.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all activities comply with H&S requirements, conducting risk assessments and audits, and embedding safe practices in new product handling.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, OPEX, and external stakeholders to establish project governance and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Business & Negotiation:
    • Act as a technical contact for suppliers and customers, providing updates and leading discussions on process and equipment solutions.
    • Negotiate complex technical and operational issues with professionalism, ensuring alignment between customer needs and business objectives.
    • Contribute to proposal preparation, cost modelling, and strategy discussions to enhance efficiency and value creation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all processes, equipment, and documentation meet GMP, GLP, and regulatory standards, supporting audits and submissions.
  • Innovation & IP: Identify opportunities to enhance product capabilities, intellectual property, and efficiency through new technologies and industry trends.

The Candidate:

  • BSc/MSc/BEng/MEng in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or related industries, with expertise in suspension mixing and low-volume pumping/metering (<1g).
  • Strong background in extrusion, mixing, suspensions, fluid dynamics, and metering technologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised, results-oriented, and strategic thinker with familiarity in Lean Six Sigma principles.
