The Role
Macquarie University is hiring for a Senior Systems Analyst (Library Systems). Within this role you will be responsible for leading and supporting all aspects of technology consultancy, requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of technology-based solutions for our Library’s systems.
Working closely with Library staff, teams, committees, and stakeholder groups, the Senior Systems Analyst identifies opportunities for system and application enhancements, including changes or modifications to existing solutions that improve the Library’s technological ecosystem, services, and application portfolio. The position also oversees the delivery of IT projects as part of the department’s annual programme of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, build, implementation, configuration, and ongoing management of Library systems, including integrated library management systems and related applications
Identify, assess, and implement system and application enhancements that improve the Library’s technological capabilities, services, and overall application portfolio
Monitor and evaluate system performance, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance with standards
Apply best practices in IT project planning and management, including stakeholder engagement, risk management, and change control
Support application lifecycle management, including requirements gathering, testing, release management, monitoring, tuning, and maintenance
Work collaboratively with Library staff, committees, and user groups to understand needs, gather requirements, and provide consultative advice on technology solutions
Champion a client-focused approach to service delivery, ensuring responsiveness, quality, and continuous improvement
About You
Tertiary qualifications in a related field or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
Knowledge and experience as a subject matter expert in a relevant business domain (such as student management, HR, finance, etc.), application platform (such as ALMA Library systems) or technology stack (such as J2EE, .NET, LAMP, Ruby on Rails, etc.), which may be supported by relevant certifications.
Knowledge of IT service management concepts and experience with their application in an enterprise work environment supporting both cloud and hybrid on-premises application configurations.
Knowledge and experience working with one or more SDLC methodologies (such as DevOps, Agile, Waterfall, or platform-specific methodology).
Relevant business domains, application platforms, or technology stacks and their practical application in a complex business and IT environment.
Demonstrated experience across key aspects of application support, including requirements analysis, design, build and configuration, testing, change management, training, release management, monitoring, performance tuning, and ongoing maintenance
