Senior System Specialist - Payroll and People Systems

We’re looking for a Payroll Systems Specialist who loves problem-solving, data integrity, and automation to help keep our national payroll engine running smoothly and compliantly. This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

You’ll be hands-on across payroll system configuration (Preceda → aPay), integrations with Workday, and ongoing improvements that make every pay run cleaner, faster, and more transparent.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own and optimise payroll system configuration — allowances, deductions, leave, super, and termination logic.

  • Troubleshoot and improve the Workday–aPay interface, fixing data issues before they hit payroll.

  • Build dashboards and reports using Excel, SQL, or Power BI for audits and insights.

  • Lead data cleansing and testing through Preceda-to-aPay migration and Workday integration projects.

  • Design and deliver system testing (SIT/UAT/regression) for awards, EBAs, super, and STP2.

  • Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT to make compliance, accuracy, and efficiency second nature.

What You’ll Bring

  • Deep experience with payroll systems like Preceda, aPay, or iChris

  • Strong skills in data integration, configuration, and troubleshooting Advanced Excel, SQL, or Power BI capability

  • Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, EBAs, and STP2

  • Experience leading testing and transformation projects

  • A love of automation, process improvement, and collaboration
