The Opportunity:
The Senior Strategy Manager for Pricing, Contracting & Distribution (PCD) will be responsible for influencing strategic pricing, contracting, and distribution decisions across multiple Genentech products, including in preparation for new product launch. This role involves driving objective and strategic decisions across various Franchise Leadership Teams, coordinating execution with Field roles, and leveraging enterprise capabilities in contract performance analytics, value integration, policy, and cross-portfolio decision-making. The Senior Strategy Manager will oversee the development of pricing, contracting, and distribution strategies for assigned therapeutic areas to optimize patient access and Genentech's competitive advantage, including leading cross-functional teams and conducting scenario analysis. The role involves setting launch strategy to ensure access for complex therapeutics and collaborating with Government Affairs, Corporate Communications, and Marketing Leadership to communicate product value and make informed decisions in a dynamic healthcare landscape.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Broad Therapeutic Area Access & Value Thought Leadership: Providing insights on market access, staying informed on healthcare macro trends impacting pricing and distribution, playing a role in portfolio-level strategy integration, and offering US pricing and value perspectives to global colleagues, as well as insights on Genentech pipeline developments.
Strategy & Contract Effectiveness, Profitability & Measurement: Leading the assessment of strategy effectiveness, promoting profitability analyses and data-based decision-making, being proficient in market access contract decision-making tools, and developing pricing, contracting, and distribution models.
Pricing & Policy Thought Leadership: Collecting and disseminating pricing, contracting, and distribution information, partnering with Government Affairs on policy formation and strategic implications, and providing strategic input on policy efforts that may impact product pricing.
Strategy & Planning Across the Lifecycle: Overseeing and leading pricing, contracting, and distribution strategies for assigned therapeutic areas, optimizing Genentech's effectiveness, patient access, and competitive advantage across all product lifecycle stages (including pipeline molecules and business development assets). This involves conducting in-depth analyses, modeling, and scenario planning to meet strategic, financial, and operational objectives, and identifying and leading special projects like market research.
Strategy to Execution Support: Building collaborative relationships across the business, acting as a key contact for internal and external communication regarding pricing, contracting, and distribution strategies, and ensuring effective communication and implementation plans are rolled out to relevant teams. It also involves accurately tracking and communicating relevant trends and issues to stakeholders and ensuring pull-through plans are integrated into decision-making processes.
Who you are:
Bachelors Degree (general business, managed health care, or finance disciplines are preferred)
2-5 years' cross-functional experience in account management, channel management, contracting, finance, health economics, managed care, market research, marketing, pricing, strategic planning and/or other related fields within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology or related industry
Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, analyzing, synthesizing and summarizing financial and qualitative data; and translating this into valuable business insights
Strong strategic agility: understands pharmaceutical/biotechnology or related industry and the associated business models
Proven ability & track record in communicating complex topics in an user-friendly manner and influencing others effectively without authority.
Strong partnering skills: has effective working relationships with internal and external partners/stakeholders
Organizational & time management skills: ability to effectively manage and complete multiple priorities and projects
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or other related Graduate-level degree is preferred (e.g., PharmD or PhD)
The preferred location for this role is at our South San Francisco, CA Genentech Campus however may consider remote flexibility for those outside the South San Francisco Bay Area.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed, up to 15%

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $138,800/yr to $257,800/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
