We have an opportunity for a Senior Specialist Nurse to join their team of staff in the Urology department.
This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.
Duties of this role include:
- Deliver specialist nursing care and support to urology patients across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural settings.
- Undertake comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care.
- Act as a clinical leader within the urology nursing team, promoting best practice and ensuring adherence to policies and clinical standards.
- Provide expert advice and training to nursing staff, healthcare assistants, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
- Work closely with urology consultants, anaesthetists, theatre teams, radiology, and outpatient services to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in the development of nurse-led services such as catheter management, bladder scanning, and continence review clinics.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
- Significant post-registration experience in urology or related surgical specialty.
- Demonstrable clinical competence in urological nursing procedures (e.g., catheterisation, bladder irrigation, trial without catheter).
- Knowledge of urological conditions, investigations, and treatments.
- Excellent clinical assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with patients and the MDT.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
