Job Description

About Vanderlande
Vanderlande provides baggage handling systems for 600 airports around the globe, moving over 4 billion pieces of baggage per year. In the parcel market, our systems handle 52 million parcels every day. All these systems generate vast amounts of data. Our Digital Service Platform (DSP) team is on a mission to use that data to create innovative, data-driven services for our customers. Do you want to help shape the quality of these services and ensure they meet the highest standards? Then this role might be for you.

Your Position
We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our MyVanderlande Customer Web Portal team within the Digital Service Platform.

As Quality Engineer you are expected to have good development skills to independently automate tests and occasionally fix simple bugs by yourself. You will work closely with developers, the Product Owner, and the Scrum Master to enable the delivery of high-quality software and act as a servant leader in alignment with Scrum values and principles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy and test approach for the MyVanderlande platform.

  • Coach and guide developers on quality best practices, code quality, and test automation.

  • Review and provide feedback on Java backend and cloud code written by other developers.

  • Ensure adherence to clean code, SOLID principles, and secure coding standards.

  • Execute automated tests, including unit, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.

  • Perform risk analysis and identify potential quality issues early in the development process.

  • Manage bugs from detection to resolution and track quality metrics.

  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and Scrum Master to embed quality activities in the sprint process.

  • Participate in and improve CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and deployment.

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • At least 5 years of experience in quality assurance and software development

  • Strong knowledge of unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito).

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

  • Strong Java development skills with experience in backend code reviews.

  • Experience with cloud technologies (preferably Azure, including Kubernetes, CosmosDB, Functions).

  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright.

  • Proven experience in test strategy, test design, risk analysis, bug management, and quality metrics.

  • Solid understanding of Scrum and agile principles, with the ability to mentor teams on quality.

Nice to Have:

  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification or higher.

  • Experience with Docker, SQL, event-driven and microservices architectures.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Bamboo, Azure DevOps) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Azure Bicep).

  • Knowledge of web components and front-end test strategies.
