Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents, with more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.
This role is located at Bangalore,India where we are onsite at least 3 days a week in the office.
Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo
We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Engineer - OSS/BSS to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our telecom business support systems (BSS) and operations support systems (OSS). You will design and execute test strategies across complex domains such as billing, mediation, CRM, provisioning, rating, and charging. This role requires a mix of telecom domain knowledge and strong QA engineering expertise, with the ability to collaborate closely with product, development, and operations teams.
How You Will Contribute
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Design and execute end-to-end test strategies for OSS/BSS platforms (billing, CRM, mediation, provisioning).
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and automation frameworks for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
- Validate CDR/EDR processing, rating, charging, invoicing, and mediation flows.
- Perform API testing for integrations with CRM, ERP, provisioning, and payment systems.
- Conduct data validation and reconciliation testing to ensure billing accuracy and revenue assurance.
Automation & Tools
- Build and maintain automation frameworks for API, UI, and backend testing.
- Leverage tools such as Selenium, Postman, JMeter, TestNG, or Robot Framework.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop test data generation and simulation for large-scale OSS/BSS workloads.
Collaboration & Process
- Work closely with developers, product managers, and business analysts to understand system requirements.
- Collaborate with operations teams to validate production issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Mentor junior QA engineers and promote best practices in testing and quality processes.
- Participate in release planning, risk assessment, and production readiness reviews.
Performance & Compliance
- Conduct performance, load, and stress testing for high-volume telecom workloads.
- Validate compliance with regulatory requirements (TRAI, FCC, GDPR, SOX, PCI, etc.).
- Support audits and revenue assurance teams by ensuring accuracy and traceability of billing events.
What We Look For
- 5–8 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in telecom billing systems.
- Hands-on experience with OSS/BSS stacks (Amdocs, CSG, NetCracker, Ericsson BSCS, Oracle BRM, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of CDR/EDR processing, mediation, rating, and charging systems.
- Solid programming skills in Java, C++, Go, or Python for backend systems.
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL) and data modeling for billing.
- Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards relevant to telecom billing.
Nice To Have
- Experience with telecom OSS/BSS platforms (Amdocs, NetCracker, Ericsson, Oracle BRM, CSG, or custom-built systems).
- Knowledge of cloud-native OSS/BSS and Kubernetes-based environments.
- Familiarity with scripting (Python, Shell, Java) for test automation.
- Exposure to 5G/IoT billing, charging, and provisioning systems.
- Certifications in ISTQB, telecom QA, or automation frameworks
