We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Analyst to join our Business Development Team.

About the role:

The Senior Project Analyst – Corporate Development and Strategy is a varied and a high impact role working on key growth projects across Bunnings Group. You will work closely with the Head of Business Development – Business Projects and the Business Development General Manager to significantly influence the achievement of Bunnings’ long term earnings growth targets via the identification, research, development, evaluation and execution of new business initiatives.

The role will leverage your strategy, commercial acumen, financial modelling skills and transactions experience to define and solve challenging business problems to support the Bunnings Executive Team.

This role is based in our national support office in Burnley, Melbourne.

What's involved:

  • Work with and support the Head of Business Development – Business Projects, the Business Development General Manager and Bunnings Executive Leadership Team to investigate, develop, recommend new projects and/or potential transactions which facilitate the achievement of Bunnings’ long-term earnings growth and return on capital targets
  • Analyse industry segments of interest to understand market sizes and structures
  • Assist with the identification of entry strategies for priority segments
  • Develop detailed financial evaluations to support proposed projects
  • Where relevant, participate in negotiations with third parties and assist with required transactional agreements
  • Develop board papers in support of identified opportunities
  • Involvement in the development of the Bunnings Group Corporate Plan / Enterprise level strategy
  • Develop functional strategies and supporting business cases for key areas of growth
  • Provide modelling, valuation analysis, due diligence and project management support for M&A opportunities on an ad hoc basis
  • Lead the incubation and execution of early stage growth initiatives

Who we’re looking for:

Our ideal candidate will be a strong team player, with proven commercial acumen and have had exposure in a similar Corporate Development or Strategy role, preferably in retail. You’ll be a strong communicator with the ability to influence and provide recommendations based on thorough financial analysis. Strong financial literacy, analytical and conceptual thinking skills will also be key.

You’ll need:

  • Commerce, Accounting or Business Degree
  • CA or CPA or CFA / Equivalent Qualified advantageous but not essential
  • 5+ years relevant strategy, commercial, corporate development, or investment banking experience (retail highly desirable)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
