Job description:
Specific Job Responsibility:
Perform data analysis to identify safety, environmental compliance and productivity shortfalls and opportunities for business improvement.
Create and maintain a detailed list of all projects (both active and inactive) with up-to-date data including capital cost, schedules, complexity scores, priority, return on investments, etc.
Conduct trade-off studies to identify most feasible and suitable solutions to exploit identified opportunities.
Create conceptual designs and obtain internal consensus on key technical decisions.
Serve as the liaison and key point of contact between process, engineering, the site operations support department (OSD), Perth projects and external contractors and suppliers.
Provide technical input and feedback to external consultants and contractors, OSD, and the Perth projects department.
Perform technical evaluations on third party proposals.
Initiate, lead, and secure approvals for capital expenditure (AFCE) where required.
Oversee the development and approval of all relevant project documentation including:
Process design criterial
Process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Process data sheets
Hazard and operability studies (HAZOP)
Relevant process control philosophies
Functional descriptions
General arrangement drawings
Manage and control all project related expenditures (bills of materials (BOMs) etc.
Ensure compliance to all internal management of change and document control procedures.
Ensure compliance to all relevant commercial procedures.
Create, review, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) where required as part of a project.
Organize or facilitate training of operational and engineering personnel on all new modifications and equipment.
Coordinate various commissioning activities.
Provide or organize technical support during commissioning.
Deliver project evaluation and close-out reports following beneficial operation.
Provide regular updates to management on key project milestones and progress.
Perform any other duties as assigned by process management.
Specific Competencies:
Deep understanding of metallurgical operations of a high throughput copper concentrator.
Good understanding of key process engineering aspects.
High level understanding of key engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process control).
Knowledge of project management best practices.
Proficient in delivering technical presentations and reports tailored to diverse audiences.
Skilled in managing time effectively and consistently meeting targets with deadlines.

Experience Required to Perform in this Job:
Minimum 5 years working as Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Metallurgist, or similar discipline.
Experienced in metallurgical process operations of large copper concentrators highly regarded.
Certificate or diploma in Project Management, Engineering Management or Project Engineering highly advantageous.
Qualifications:
Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or Engineering related fields.
Eligibility for membership of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ) and to hold legal appointment as defined by the Mining Regulations of Zambia
A certificate or post-graduate qualification in Project Management, Engineering Management or Project Engineering will be an added advantage.
All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
