POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior NVH Development Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting noise and vibration product development activities for driveline components (transfer cases, gearboxes, couplings, disconnect systems) and engine sub-system components (timing drive, variable cam timing systems). This NVH role includes project planning and communicating with cross-functional engineering and program teams, testing setup and data acquisition in the lab and in vehicles, along with data processing, analysis and report writing. This individual will represent BorgWarner NVH in customer engineering discussions pertaining to requirements, development, validation and performance.  This position also includes leading NVH group infrastructure and continuous improvement activities in methodology and product knowledge. This person must demonstrate characteristics which foster team growth, show diligence in daily tasks, take the initiative to take on challenging assignments, is self-motivated and has the will and ability to create opportunities.


KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead new and current product development and validation programs through NVH testing, analysis and reporting.
  • Interact with cross-functional engineering team to enhance product performance, weight and cost.
  • Perform test setup, data acquisition and teardown for NVH lab and vehicle tests. Perform specialized NVH development and benchmarking activities in areas such as acoustics and structural dynamics.
  • Represent BorgWarner NVH Engineering by leading NVH discussions on requirements, development, validation and performance with customer engineering.
  • Lead NVH Root Cause Analysis activities as part of a cross-functional engineering team.
  • Collaborate with Plant NVH Engineers to implement best practices at production End of Line quality systems.
  • Conduct studies to improve and promote product design for NVH.
  • Support development and implementation of NVH group functional and technical capabilities and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain NVH equipment (hardware and software).
  • Collaborate with CAE Engineers to correlate test results to CAE models on components and assemblies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering
  • M.S.M.E. NVH preferred or relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 5+ years minimum NVH work experience in automotive powertrain, driveline (transfer cases, transmissions, PTU’s, axles) or relevant rotating machinery applications
  • Acoustics and/or Structural Dynamics background
  • Experience with common NVH software, data acquisition and analysis tools
  • Time, Frequency, Order Domain & Modal testing and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to impact product design through NVH problem resolution in vehicle or powertrain/driveline subsystems

Salary Range:

$88,000 - $121,000
