The Role You Could Play
The Senior Network Engineer will be working in a tight knit team and will be responsible for building and maintaining the day-to-day operation of computer networks that MECCA relies on whilst maintaining a security first approach. Working closely with the security team you will be a key stakeholder in the cyber security framework and how we implement security. There are many exciting projects in the pipeline and this person will work with the business and external vendors to scope, implement and oversee the design and delivery of a new efficient and effective Store Network Infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the business.
The main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Design and implement network solutions using Fortinet, Aruba, and Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Configure, deploy, and manage Fortinet firewalls, utilizing SD-WAN with BGP routing.
- Managing VPN access (FortiEMS, ZTNA, SASE)
- Design and configure Access and Security Policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and implement secure and scalable network designs.
- Administer Aruba switches, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security
- Deploy and manage wireless solutions using Fortinet and Meraki platforms (802.1x)
- Deploy and manage network services such as Network Policy Server, CA Server.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues promptly to minimise downtime.
- Provide technical guidance on infrastructure design and architecture
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of infrastructure issues
- Implement and maintain network security measures.
- Provide guidance and mentorship, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Collaborate with the Security team on continue improvements.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure network equipment and services
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8 + years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on implementing and managing enterprise-level networks.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Fortinet firewalls, SD-WAN, BGP routing, and IPsec.
- Certification in relevant Fortinet certifications, such as NSE 4 or higher.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing cloud networking enviroments.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet and Meraki wireless solutions
- In-depth understanding of network protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing secure and scalable network architectures.
- Solid knowledge of network security best practices and experience with firewall configurations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex network issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of the Cyber Security Frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS CSC).
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent - highly desirable.
- Knowledge of cloud networking, specifically AWS - highly desirable.
- Willing to travel interstate/New Zealand once per month (2-3 days at a time).
