WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Work with Lead network engineers to design, deploy, and maintain IP-based broadcast networks, including support for uncompressed media transport, multicast routing, QoS optimization, and network synchronization (e.g., PTP) to enable real-time workflows in TV broadcast environments
Provide high-level network support, configuring and managing network hardware such as switches, routers, and firewalls from digital communications technology and computer networking vendors like Juniper, Cisco, and Arista, ensuring integration with broadcast systems like shared storage, editing, and streaming platforms
Troubleshoot more complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions to maintain system resilience, uptime, and security in mission-critical broadcast settings
Collaborate with broadcast engineering, IT, and operations teams to evaluate network architecture for scalability, integrate new technologies, and automate configurations using both open source and proprietary tools
Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and acting as an escalation point for issues
Conduct capacity planning, software and firmware management, and documentation of network topologies and changes
On an ongoing basis, proactively monitor the health and performance of networks, analyze network trends, and diagnose network issues
Research and recommend alternative solutions or workarounds to network problems
Follow up on trouble tickets as well as escalate them for timely resolution
Appropriately escalate issues to the responsible parties, depending on the problem area
Document issues and resolutions for future reference in a Knowledge Base
Annually provide IT network support to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC
Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in a related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
Generally, 5+ years of experience in the related field is preferred
CCNP/JNCIP certifications are highly desired
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Proven expertise working with leading digital communications technology and computer networking vendors and their networking equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and related protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, multicast)
IP network design, with a focus on large-scale, mission-critical IP networks in broadcast or media environments
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work in fast-paced, live production settings
Strong customer interface background
Proven ability to work with customers on short- and long-term projects is critical
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects/activities concurrently
Experience with troubleshooting tools and methodologies
Design and connectivity experience with cloud providers
Understanding of and experience with routing/switching from leading communications technology and computer networking vendors is critical
Understanding of TV broadcast systems and protocols, including TVU and LTN, is highly desired
Willingness to travel to customer sites up to 10% per year to perform network refreshes.
Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting the business 24x7 while on call.
