About the role
As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will be focussed on generating & developing innovative concepts within a project team. Within Upstream Robotics you will be a crucial member of a dynamic team to help meet and exceed the requirements of our products and embedded technologies to ensure a strong pipeline of innovative concept for Dyson. You will be working closely with other engineers, designers, scientists, specialists, downstream teams, and other cross functional teams to create and develop new features, technologies, product formats and business cases for projects in our portfolio.
What we need you to do…
Integrate circuit boards with the team’s prototypes to run validation tests on platform concepts.
Create and iterate electronic prototype and concept models quickly using handmade or 3D printed parts to evaluate feasibility and user value via experiment.
Understand the electronic layout of our partner’s platform to able to modify it to suit NPI’s needs.
Where needed, integrate sensors/actuators onto concepts to validate and iterate innovative concepts.
Take ownership of engineering challenges, resolving issues thoroughly with a focus on technical excellence and accountability with minimal guidance.
Contribute to team/department level initiatives & change projects.
About you
A degree in a mechatronics engineering or electronics discipline with product design knowledge.
Minimum of four years of experience in engineering or product development, with a focus on prototyping, concept development, and iterative problem-solving.
Proven ability of integrating sensors onto early-stage concepts into working prototypes, using hands-on rig-building and creative methods to evaluate feasibility and performance.
A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for creating user-focused and commercially impactful products that challenge the status quo.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead discussions across disciplines and with business stakeholders.
Solid experience with mechanical design principles, including 3D CAD, prototyping, and validation through simulation and lab testing.
A methodical and user-focused design process with a proven track record of delivering creative, value-driven solutions, balancing cost, and performance.
Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate your work – and the work of others – to meet project goals efficiently.
