About this opportunity:

Reporting to the VP, Canadian Refining, the Senior Manager, Turnaround will be accountable to scope, develop, optimize, and implement outages and turnarounds. This includes detailed shutdown, maintenance execution, start up plans and schedule for the Lloydminster Refinery, Upgrader and Lloyd Ethanol Plant. This will be done in close collaboration with key stakeholders, with a goal to safely and effectively completing turnarounds on schedule and budget, driving to achieve step change improvement in benchmarked outages. The Senior Manager will also be the field execution lead for all events with expectation to be on site during these events including accountability for integrating all contractor performance as well as Cenovus site maintenance, projects and operations teams.

Work Environment

  • This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure adherence to the Turnaround delivery model and all Turnaround work processes with regular reviews to align with business objectives.

  • Identify opportunities for interval extension between turnarounds, define and update strategic long-range plans.

  • Ensures the implementation and ongoing development and compliance with the Cenovus Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS).

  • Support the development of the Turnaround goals, scope, and premise documents to support the Turnaround.

  • Manage governance of assigned capital and expense projects for the Turnaround and ensuring required resources are identified and partnering with the facility to meet demands and commitments.

  • Drive compliance to the Turnaround Milestone Schedule and Turnaround Premise.

  • Develop and deliver Turnaround overview presentations, ensuring alignment through effective communication with site, corporate and senior leadership.

  • Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure Turnaround effectiveness and ensure safety, environmental compliance and adhere to Process Safety Management standards.

  • Create Executive Summary reports and ensure historical data is archived for future Turnaround planning.

  • Support turnaround standardization and improvement by engaging in technical networks, cross-functional projects and driving a consistent lesson learned process.

  • Develop Contracting Plans and Technical Bid documents and support Supply Chain Management in the overall procurement of service contracts.

  • Lead Steering team(s) for each turnaround to support readiness and to effectively manage risks.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the team, ensuring performance and goals align with business priorities through regular feedback and mentoring.

  • Understand what a world class turnaround event looks like and is accountable to develop and implement a please with their team to achieve this for the 2028 Upgrader TA.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum 16 years of leadership experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams supporting turnaround planning, scheduling, and execution or alternately combination of other technical, maintenance or projects leadership experience.

  • Extensive experience in change and project management.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
