Join a high-impact team at the forefront of strategic credit decisioning—where your leadership will shape the robustness of credit risk across BMO’s retail and private wealth portfolios. As a Senior Manager, Retail Credit Portfolio Oversight and Governance reports you will be responsible to provide oversight, monitoring and reporting of credit risk strategies and policies for the Unsecured Lending portfolio. You will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of credit risk policies & standards, methodologies and controls that increase transparency, accuracy, and consistency across groups.

1. Policies, Procedures and Credit Strategies Governance and Oversight
Supports strong governance across credit functions by ensuring policies and procedures are followed, risks are managed effectively, and regulatory expectations are met. Provide independent and effective challenge to credit policy and credit procedure changes, amendments, and work collaboratively on new developments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong connections with credit teams across business lines to ensure consistent policy / framework adherence.
· Change Leadership: Lead change initiatives, including planning, stakeholder engagement, execution, and long-term sustainability.
· Risk Alignment: Review new products, policies, and credit strategies to ensure they align with the bank’s risk appetite and include proper risk mitigation.
· Documentation Support: Help create clear and comprehensive documents for credit strategies and related processes.
· Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed on relevant regulations and assess their impact on governance and policy frameworks.
· Advisory Role: Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on credit-related regulations and policies, identifying emerging trends and issues.
· Audit Representation: Represent the governance function during internal and external audits or regulatory reviews.
2. Reporting and Analytics
Focus on monitoring credit strategy performance, providing insights through data analysis, and delivering accurate reporting to support decision-making. Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Performance Monitoring: Track credit strategy results and flag any issues.
· Analysis: Define business needs for analytics and reporting to enable data-driven decisions and conduct independent assessments to address strategic challenges and ad-hoc investigations
· Reporting & Dashboards: Design and deliver regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
· Governance: Manage review and approval processes for all reporting outputs.
3. Leadership
· Drives Collaboration and Influence: Shapes timelines and deliverables through strong negotiation and influence, ensuring alignment with business goals.
· Strategic Problem-Solving: Leverages expertise and innovative thinking to navigate complex, ambiguous challenges and deliver effective solutions.
· Inclusive Leadership: Champions values-driven behavior that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion across teams and initiatives.
Qualifications
· 3+ years of relevant experience and a graduate degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience (advance level degrees preferred).
· Knowledge of risk management theory, processes and portfolio management reporting techniques.
· Willingness to learn and ability to navigate ambiguous business problems to arrive at a solution
· Stakeholder management skills to lead the change and drive new processes
· Analytical mindset to define and solve complex problems
· Hands on experience with data extraction and analysis using tools such as SAS, SQL, or Python.
· Knowledge and understanding of modelling & analytics concepts and applications.
· Knowledge and understanding of credit risk monitoring framework
· Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
