Job Requisition ID #
Position Overview
The Senior Manager of Portfolio Management is the critical function responsible for enabling the Fiscal Year Roadmap by translating strategic objectives into an executable, capacity-balanced program sequence. This role ensures all work undertaken aligns with the fiscal year strategy. The Senior Manager will sequence programs to balance against available organizational capacity and meet high-level business goals. This is the practical, risk-mitigating mandate that prevents the organization from collapsing under too many simultaneous projects, preserving focus, user adoption, and time-to-market.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Prioritization
Strategic Alignment: Partner with senior leadership and key stakeholders to ensure the portfolio is consistently focused on high-value initiatives that directly support GET’s fiscal year strategy
Capacity Balancing & Sequencing: Facilitate the process to sequence and stagger programs, balancing demand against available capacity across critical resource pools
Portfolio Rebalancing: Proactively and dynamically rebalance the portfolio based on delays, changes, and new discoveries to maintain overall strategic flow and meet launch targets
Dependency Management: Proactively identify, visualize, and manage inter-program dependencies to mitigate integration risks and inform sequencing decisions
Conflict Resolution & Risk Mitigation
Mitigating Resource and Timeline Conflicts across programs: Consciously adjust program timelines (e.g., UAT entry, launch dates) to avoid peak bandwidth conflicts across all stakeholders
Managing Work in Progress (WIP): Act as the practical mandate that controls the overall WIP across the organization. Sequence programs and define the necessary groundwork required before a program can officially start
Roadmap Management, Communication & Leadership
Roadmap Ownership: Own and maintain the enterprise-level portfolio roadmap, providing a single, authoritative source of truth for all major program timelines and their capacity-driven sequencing
Facilitate Executive Decision-Making: Facilitate portfolio governance meetings and provide necessary insights to drive decision-making around priority shifts, resource allocation, and risk resolution
Portfolio Health Reporting: Establishes and reports on the overall strategic health and focus of the portfolio to executive stakeholders, emphasizing alignment and resource utilization
Continuous Improvement & Mentorship: Provides leadership and mentorship to direct reports (e.g., Portfolio Analysts). Champions change and identify opportunities for efficiency and innovation across the entire portfolio management system
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
10+ years experience in Portfolio Management, Program Management Office (PMO) leadership, or a related strategic planning function within a complex, matrixed organization
Proven track record of successfully managing a portfolio and taking responsibility for realized business outcomes (benefits, value), not just on-time delivery
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of synthesizing complex portfolio data into clear executive narratives. Demonstrated ability to drive consensus and strategic prioritization among competing executive stakeholders
Deep understanding of the full program lifecycle, from strategic intent through to enablement
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to justify program sequencing and resource allocation decisions
SAFe or Relevant certification in Portfolio or Program Management is highly desirable
