About the team:

Demonstrated command of data privacy and related laws and regulations with a curiosity to enhance knowledge based on laws in other jurisdictions.

·        Demonstrated experience in operationalizing data privacy (including identifying how and where personal data is processed, appropriate privacy requirements and any associated privacy risks) with a focus on simple, scalable and effective processes.

·        Proven ability to operationalize and implement strategy.

·        Demonstrated ability to proactively identify risks and advise on mitigations by providing practical solutions. Ability to handle breach and crisis management, in case of issues.

·        Ability to identify, understand and assess trends and developments in data privacy, explain issues in a practical, result focused manner.

·        Understands the interplay of privacy requirements with labor and employment laws, consumer protection laws and other local laws.

·        Strong working knowledge of consumer and digital data related challenges in a marketing context i.e. data collection, consent and preferences management, data storage, sharing, data marketing, retention.

·        Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to articulate company vision and policy, and to seek out areas of risk and priority.

·        Experience with a leading privacy platform (OneTrust preferred) considered a plus (not required).

·        Experience in managing large scale privacy transformation projects, preferably in the legal, compliance or risk sector

·        Experience in working with offshore teams virtually, with proven ability in delivering change projects from initiation to business handover.

·        Adapt nimbly to changing needs within the business.                                                                                          

·        Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills and experience in business partnering with other executives and demonstrating the ability and desire to provide proactive, pragmatic advice in furtherance of the business agenda.

·        Demonstrated ability to navigate in legal environments where laws can be unclear and judicial system not always robust.

  • Work remotely with external counsels and business stakeholders in multiple locations
  • Develop, implement, and manage compliance and ethics programs, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations to mitigate compliance risks.
  • Advise senior leadership on regulatory developments, industry best practices, and ethical considerations.
  • Lead training and awareness initiatives to promote a strong culture of ethics and compliance across the organization.
  • Monitor and assess internal controls to prevent unethical conduct, fraud, and regulatory violations.
  • Conduct investigations of potential violations of company policies, regulations, or ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial, marketing and corporate relations to ensure cohesive compliance efforts.
  • Serve as a point of contact for regulatory bodies and manage external compliance audits.
  • Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensure alignment of compliance programs with the organization’s business objectives and global best practices.
  • Ensure effective handling of whistleblower complaints.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to compliance team members and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement frameworks for monitoring third-party compliance and due diligence.
  • Conduct compliance risk analysis for mergers, acquisitions, and business partnerships.
  • Implement digital tools and technologies to enhance compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Engage with industry bodies, regulatory agencies, and compliance networks to stay ahead of emerging trends and best practices.
  • Create and present compliance reports to senior management and the board, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Design and enforce policies related to our code of business conduct and conflicts of interest.
  • Develop and oversee ESG compliance programs, ensuring alignment with global sustainability standards and reporting frameworks.
  • Lead ESG reporting efforts, ensuring accurate and timely disclosures in line with regulatory and stakeholder expectations.
  • Establish and monitor AI governance policies, ensuring ethical and compliant use of artificial intelligence in business operations

•  Has a strong commercial focus and an ability to influence key stakeholders.

•  Can identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks.

•  Has strong communication and presentation skills.

•  Likes to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally at all levels.

•  Is tactful in dealing with sensitive matters and can maintain confidentiality and/or sensitive business information.

•  Can juggle multiple high priority tasks simultaneously and flawlessly.

•  Has strong ability to influence key stakeholders.

LLB from a reputed law school. CIPP/DCPP/DCPLA or similar certification.

8-10 years of experience in a commercial compliance role, with a focus on data privacy and data protection.
