Seaport Therapeutics is seeking a hands-on experienced Senior Manager of IT Operations who will not only oversee but actively execute critical IT functions. This role requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced biotech environment and is deeply involved in cybersecurity, employee training, and the implementation of AI-driven solutions. You will work closely with our outsourced Managed Service Provider (MSP) while directly managing day-to-day IT operations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the security and scalability of our infrastructure.

This position is based in Boston’s Seaport area, with a strong preference for being onsite 4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

· Actively manage and execute IT Operations, including help desk support, endpoint management, and troubleshooting complex technical problems across corporate and lab environments.

· Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls (MFA, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, incident response) and lead remediation efforts.

· Develop and deliver employee cybersecurity awareness training and onboarding materials.

· Administer Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and Okta (SSO/MFA, SCIM automation) with hands-on configuration and monitoring.

· Coordinate with the MSP on user onboarding/offboarding, software provisioning, and device lifecycle management.

· Provide strategic oversight of all network, cloud (O365/Entra), and security operations, ensuring reliability and compliance while proactively identifying and escalating critical risks.

· Manage the relationship with the Managed Service Provider (MSP), ensuring adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs), conducting performance evaluations, and overseeing escalation protocols to maintain operational excellence.

· Ensure compliance with IT policies and regulatory frameworks (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, GxP as applicable) through proactive audits and documentation.

· Partner with business units to evaluate, select, and integrate emerging technologies—such as AI/ML solutions and automation platforms—into IT workflows to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability.

· Lead implementation of AI-driven tools for IT service automation, threat detection, and operational efficiency.

· Assist with vendor management, including selection, contract renewals, and ongoing relationships.

· Maintain accurate inventory of IT assets and software licenses, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

· Partner with the VP, IT & Office Operations on execution of other key projects as they arise while remaining hands-on in delivery; for example: strategic planning and budgeting processes.

Qualifications

· 6+ years of progressive IT experience, including hands-on administration of enterprise systems and security tools, with at least two years of direct engagement in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) partnered environment.

· Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· Prior experience supporting biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences organizations is strongly preferred.

· Proven expertise with Okta (SSO/MFA, Adaptive Access, SCIM automation), Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, Defender, Purview, and Entra ID.

· Demonstrated ability to manage cybersecurity programs and deliver employee training, manage third-party vendors, service contracts, and SLAs.

· Experience with AI/automation tools for IT operations and security monitoring.

· Experience administering GxP-controlled systems (e.g., Veeva Vault) is a plus.

· Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

The expected salary range for this role is $161,000-$189,000 with the final offer based on experience, market data, and internal equity.
