What you’ll be doing

CIBC Trust Investment Management is a team under the CIBC Wealth Solutions department within the CIBC Commercial Banking and Wealth Management.  The team provides Investment Management services, solutions and oversight to the clients of CIBC Trust Corporation. CIBC Trust is a wholly owned subsidiary of CIBC which is incorporated, licensed and operating under the powers and authorities granted by Trust and Loans Companies Act. The primary purpose of the business is to provide Estate, Trust and Agency services to high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients within the CIBC network.

The role contributes to the development and implementation of an investment oversight framework and strategies for discharging CIBC Trust’s fiduciary duties in overseeing internal and external investment portfolio managers. The person will have direct control and responsibility for managing and overseeing a block of large, complex and demanding investment situations in supporting the Estate Trust and Agency Team.  In an unstructured environment, the individual will gather information to evaluate the client requirements, understand and respect various relationships, negotiate suitable investment plans and solutions, and monitor the investments to generate reasonable outcomes for all relevant stakeholders.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How you’ll succeed

  • Investment Management Operations and Administration - Perform Operational and Administrative functions as required to support the smooth operations of the Investment Management department within CIBC Trust.  Act as a leader and role model for the team in making day to day operational decisions.  Develop, implement and support departmental policies, procedures, forms, letters, workflows, reports and templates.  Compile and review other reports as requested and in accordance with deadlines.  Maintain investment department diaries, various control lists and databases.  Review, evaluate and resolve issues raised by auditors, compliance, business controls, risk management and regulators.  Assist or lead various special projects, initiatives and activities as they arise from time to time.  Provide support and backup services to other team members
