TITLE: Senior Manager, HR Operations - Workday HCM

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The Senior Manager, HR Operations (Workday HCM) plays a pivotal role in shaping Duck Creek’s global HR Operations strategy aligned with business goals, with primary accountability for the effective operation, scalability, and innovation of our Workday HCM platform. This people manager will lead and develop our team of HRIS professionals to drive enterprise-level HR technology adoption in support of our ongoing business needs across North America, Europe, and APAC.

Partnering closely with our HR functional teams (e.g., Talent Acquisition, L&D, Total Rewards) and IT, this role is responsible for long-term systems planning, the adoption of AI tools into the HR business process ecosystem, as well as collaboration with IT on enterprise level dashboard metrics aimed at improving data governance, and data driven business decisions.

  • Lead the strategic roadmap, configuration, and administration of the Workday HCM platform to ensure scalable, secure, and innovative solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Strategize ways to standardize and streamline HR processes across regions (e.g., onboarding, offboarding, ongoing employee life cycle management).
  • Coach and develop a team of HRIS Analysts, providing mentorship, performance management, and workload prioritization.
  • Direct enterprise-wide HR technology programs, including new system/module rollouts and digital enablement initiatives. Act as system administrator for all non-Workday HR solutions, supporting integrations and user account management processes.
  • Partner with senior HR leadership to translate strategic workforce objectives into actionable system solutions.
  • Oversee data governance and compliance for HR systems globally, ensuring adherence to regulations such as GDPR and CCPA, and maintaining audit-readiness.
  • Build and deliver executive dashboards Workday, Power BI, and/or other solutions to enable insight-driven people decisions. Focus on automation of key monthly/quarterly metrics such as headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, etc.
  • Manage vendor partnerships, contract renewals, service delivery, and strategic evaluations of new HR tech investments.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration across the HR organization and stakeholder communities. Embrace the use of AI in helping drive automation across HR and our global organization.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE:

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in HR Technology, HRIS administration, or HR operations, with at least 3+ years in a formal or informal people management or team lead capacity
  • Strong expertise in Workday HCM configuration and administration, including experience with core modules and advanced reporting
  • Demonstrated success leading global HR technology projects from planning through execution
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing third-party consultants or system integrators
  • Strong data governance, compliance, and auditing knowledge, especially in multinational environments

PREFERRED:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field
  • Workday Human Capital Management Certifications
  • Experience in global mid-sized technology companies (1,000–5,000 employees).
  • Exposure to advanced HR technology trends, such as AI integrations, predictive analytics, or chatbot-enabled self-service.
  • Experience developing, coaching, and retaining teams.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Behaviors:

  • Strong Project Management skills: ability to work cross-functionally to manage multiple priorities and continually communicate project status with teams.
  • Player / Coach responsibilities; ability to support and manage workload for team members, while also working hands on with self-owned projects.
  • Deep understanding of Workday modules (e.g., Core HCM, Compensation, Talent, Reporting) including configuration, business process design, and security frameworks.
  • Ability to translate business and HR objectives into scalable, user-centric technology solutions that enhance employee experience and operational efficiency.
  • Skilled in leading complex HRIS projects end-to-end, including stakeholder engagement, resource planning, risk mitigation, and delivery against milestones.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a small team of HRIS analysts, fostering accountability, collaboration, and goal achievement.
  • Experience managing external vendors and consultants, including contract negotiations, SLA oversight, and budgeting influence.
  • Strong understanding of global data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), compliance requirements, and audit readiness in HR data management.
  • Ability to build, interpret, and deliver actionable HR dashboards and metrics using tools such as Workday and Power BI.
  • Understanding of integrations between HRIS and adjacent platforms (e.g., Payroll, Finance, Identity Management), including technical requirement gathering and testing oversight.
  • Proactive in identifying emerging HR tech trends (e.g., AI, automation, predictive analytics) and evaluating their applicability within the organization.
