What is the opportunity?
The purpose of this role is to:
Lead the development and execution of innovative, differentiated strategies to enhance and safeguard RBC’s reputation in Europe.
Deliver thoughtful and high-impact communications that align with and advance RBC’s wealth management business priorities in the region.
Champion RBC’s high-performing culture by embedding its purpose and values in strategic decision-making, leadership, and team development.
What will you do?
Develop and implement strategic communications strategies for Wealth Management that align with business priorities, with a primary focus on public relations (PR), media engagement, and external brand reputation, while also supporting internal communications as needed.
Public Relations (primary focus):
Lead the development and execution of impactful PR strategies and plans to enhance and protect RBC’s brand in Europe, with a specific focus on the British Isles for the Wealth Management business.
Build and maintain strong relationships with tier-one media to secure high-profile opportunities for corporate and industry/markets stories.
Identify, prepare, and media train RBC spokespeople to ensure effective representation in the media.
Ensure alignment with global RBC messaging and approaches.
Act as a senior advisor on change and issues management, including the creation of external communications strategies, stakeholder messaging, and client-facing communications on reputational matters.
Serve as a corporate spokesperson on reputational matters as required.
Manage external vendors and partners to ensure high-quality delivery of PR initiatives.
Internal Communications (secondary focus):
Provide support for internal communications activities, including leadership and employee events, to enhance culture, engagement, and alignment with business goals.
Collaborate on the development of internal communications materials and leverage best practices to drive employee engagement and awareness of strategic priorities.
Support on internal communication activities for change and issues management including developing internal stakeholder and leadership messaging, briefing materials and employee statements.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Relevant corporate communications experience, PR firm or financial services/professional services firm preferred.
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to understand corporate strategy and specific business priorities, translating technical content into communications that facilitate understanding with media.
Ability to present ideas to senior executives and generate buy-in for communications strategies.
Strong stakeholdering abilities and good relationships with key media.
Strong knowledge of communication and social media principles and best practices.
Strong interpersonal skills, team player and relationship builder.
Deadline-driven and results-oriented, strong project management knowledge and time management capabilities.
Nice-to-have
People management skills would be an advantage but not essential.
Experience of managing PR agencies would be an advantage.
Skills and abilities in analysing media data, analytics and AI would be an advantage.
