Senior Land GIS Analyst

Job Summary

This is a specialist-level position responsible for providing advanced GIS support to the Land Department. The Senior Land GIS Analyst applies expert knowledge of ESRI software and spatial data management to create customized maps, ensure data integrity, and align leasehold, ownership, and well information across systems. The position oversees GIS workflow, mentors analysts, and leads initiatives that strengthen Land data accuracy, visualization, and integration across Continental’s enterprise systems. Recognized as a highly-seasoned, strong-performing, well-versed contributor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert GIS support to Land, creating and maintaining customized maps using ESRI tools.

  • Lead data-integrity initiatives through detailed spatial and tabular data review, ensuring Land agreement accuracy.

  • Oversee mapping workflows and ensure adherence to cartographic standards and enterprise data models.

  • Apply advanced spatial analysis to support business questions, A&D evaluations, and regulatory or operational decisions.

  • Compile and manage datasets used for enterprise GIS mapping and integration with Quorum Land.

  • Mentor and train GIS analysts, fostering collaboration and skill growth across the team.

  • Develop and maintain automated tools or models to streamline map production and QA/QC.

  • Partner with Land and various departments to align GIS data with lease, title, and unit boundaries.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and innovation in mapping deliverables.

  • Maintain documentation of GIS standards, workflows, and best practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies

  • Expert proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, and relational data modeling.

  • Strong knowledge of land descriptions, surveys, and lease terminology.

  • Ability to lead spatial data validation and quality-assurance initiatives.

  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring peers and coordinating GIS workflows.

  • Proven analytical ability to translate spatial data into actionable insights for business decisions.

  • Resilient and adaptable under changing priorities; cultivates innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate technical GIS information into actionable insights.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geosciences, Land Management, or related field.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of GIS experience in the oil and gas industry, with emphasis on Land data.

  • Advanced proficiency with ArcGIS software suite and data integration tools.

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Quorum Land.

  • Familiarity with SQL or enterprise data management systems.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
