Department overview:

S&P EDM provides Enterprise Data Management Solutions for Banks, Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, Insurance companies, Software companies and Treasury functions in large institutions. With offices in Dallas, Boston, New York, London, Manchester, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, and Sydney, Markit EDM has a global reach and increasingly clients require some work to be done remotely. The EDM Warehouse component provides customers with the option to leverage, a predefined enterprise data model as part of its deployment. The EDM Warehouse is packaged with a library of inbound data services that allows users to populate either the entire enterprise model or individual data sets. An outbound report services layer is available to expedite delivery of information to downstream applications.

Position summary

The Lead Implementation Consultant role is part of a team based in India working with clients globally on implementation activities, generally remotely; however, at times team members are required to travel (within the region or internationally) to client offices to assist with the implementation activities.

The team is coached and led by a senior Managing Consultants and SMEs, and are trained in using SQL Server, the Markit EDM application, and in the informational needs of modern financial institutions.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provides product implementation consulting services to customers including the ability to understand challenges/requirements, provide recommendations, define implementation proposal, and execute the delivery.

  • Develops specifications (BRD/FSD/TSD) to define interfaces, validations, rules, mappings, workflows, permissions, system controls and performance criteria.

  • Configures the products per specification providing including building the interfaces, validations, rules, mappings, workflows, and permissions.

  • Document, analyse and map the different data feeds that populate/retrieve data to/from the EDM product suite (including EDM Insights).

  • Participates in the testing process for new product versions and client testing cycles (unit, integration, UAT, parallel, etc.) during implementation to ensure deliverables are aligned with requirements and performant.

  • Leads project handover meetings to ensure EDM Support and Client Management teams have a thorough understanding of the implementation.

  • Supports installation of software at client site or in hosted environment.

  • Partners with Sales and Client Management to identify new opportunities to extend usage of the EDM product suite.

  • Participates in pre-sales activity including product demos, POCs, workshops, discovery sessions and RFP activities.

  • Provides input into the training curriculum and conducts training internally/externally.

  • Provides input into the product roadmap by recommending new enhancements.

  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of issues raised through the support.

  • Supports strategic developments across the industry with reference to existing products.

Business competencies

Education and experience

  • Candidates should be university degree level educated or equivalent

  • Proven track record of software implementation experience gained ideally from a buy or sell-side environment

  • Strong understanding of Capital Markets, especially Secondary markets with focus on Middle / Back Office operations, Investment Management reporting and Trade lifecycle.

  • Exposure to different types of reports i.e., Positions reports (Detail & Summary), Transaction detail & summary, Asset Allocation, Exposure, Performance reports etc.

  • Understanding of different client personas and what they require in the reports

  • Asset Classes, Reference data and financial instruments including data dependencies

  • Investment vehicles such as mutual funds, ETFs, closed-end funds, hedge funds, SMAs etc.

  • Accounting Data sets – Accounts, Security, Positions, Transactions, P&L, Performance, Analytics etc.

  • Benchmark Indices and their relevance Fund Performance reporting

  • Key Financial metrics / terms like NAV, Expense Ratios, Risk measures (sharpe ratios, VaR etc.)

  • Familiarity with data platforms such as BBG, Refinitiv, FactSet and systems such as Geneva, Aladdin, CRIMS, SimCorp Dimension etc. is an added advantage.

  • Understanding of relational databases (SQL/Oracle), Snowflake, data mining, data warehousing and data modelling concepts is desirable.

  • Prior experience in EDM is desirable.

  • Commercial awareness

  • An interest in the data management and Client Reporting space and technology associated with it

  • Management requirements

  • Ability to prioritize activities by managing a constantly evolving plan measured against client requirements.

  • Experience in leading and coaching a team of talented individuals, focusing on their strengths and business needs to achieve high performance and desired outcomes.
