Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior GIS Specialist to join our team!
In this role, you will get to support projects through advanced geospatial analysis, data management, and the development of high quality GIS mapping and applications.
What You'll Be Doing:
Updating, maintaining, and enhancing geospatial databases to ensure accuracy, integrity, and alignment with project requirements.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide spatial data, analysis, and insights that support effective decision-making.
Creating, reviewing, and maintaining digital GIS maps for various project needs.
Supporting the preparation of system and database reports, checklists, and documentation with oversight.
Developing custom GIS applications and tools to solve identified spatial problems.
Assisting in the installation, configuration, and management of enterprise GIS portals and server environments.
Implementing database design elements and spatial database models for efficient querying and geospatial analysis.
Assisting in defining data types, relationships, constraints, and indexes for optimized performance.
Performing basic and advanced editing, digitizing, and geoprocessing to convert analog data and analyze geospatial information.
Supporting the preparation and execution of GIS implementation and management plans at program and project levels.
Providing technical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior team members, including contributing to training templates/manuals.
Responding to client queries and supporting internal coordination with other departments.
Interfacing with internal stakeholders and contributing to multidisciplinary project delivery.
Performing other tasks and responsibilities as required for the role.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience.
Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Strong understanding of GIS fundamentals, CAD and BIM awareness.
Proficiency in GIS software/database packages, workflows, troubleshooting, and system capabilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in geospatial contexts.
Knowledge of QA/QC practices, geoprocessing techniques, data management standards, and data models.
Ability to design, manage, and implement spatial databases and data model structures.
Skilled in web services, mobile GIS applications, and FME-based data transformation.
Ability to automate tasks and run complex analyses using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
Demonstrated capability in cartographic design and production of scaled maps.
Strong communication skills, able to explain technical subjects to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
GIS-related professional certification (e.g., GISP, Esri certifications).
Experience mentoring and guiding lower-level GIS team members.
Strong ability to define topology rules, enforce data integrity, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Experience supporting GIS implementation plans across large-scale programs.
Familiarity with DM / RTA / DEWA requirements is considered an advantage.
