The Role

We’re seeking a Senior Financial Accountant, Group Finance to join our team in Melbourne on a 12-month fixed term contract. In this role you’ll be involved in the monthly consolidation process ensuring timely completion for reporting to our parent entity. The role will require liaison with overseas subsidiaries, processing intercompany eliminations, preparation of select balance sheet reconciliations, investigation into balances and other ad hoc projects. Proven experience in process improvement will be viewed strongly.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:-

  • Assist in the preparation of statutory and other external reports for various entities in the SMEC and SJ group;
  • Facilitating the preparation of detailed, complex account reconciliations to ensure appropriate controls are maintained in preserving the integrity of account balances
  • Providing input and support into, including but not limited to, any process improvement initiatives, one-off finance projects and integration activities across the SJ Group;
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships internally and externally to contribute to effective financial management.

About You

Suitable applicants will be/have:

  • Degree in Accounting and/or Finance;
  • CA/CPA qualified;
  • IFRS16 Lease Accounting is experience is essential for this role
  • 5+ years post qualification experience in the full range of financial management accounting activities
  • Exceptional Excel skills (e.g. data modelling in Power Query); 
  • Ability to analyse and communicate financial information;
  • Ability to prepare and review statutory consolidated financial reports;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multi-disciplinary environment;
