The Role

Macquarie University is committed to delivering excellence in financial management and operational efficiency. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applications Specialist to join our team and lead the administration, optimisation, and support of our FinanceOne (TechnologyOne) financial systems.

As a Senior Applications Specialist, you will be the go-to expert for FinanceOne/TechnologyOne Financials, ensuring the system is optimally configured to meet business needs. You will collaborate with stakeholders across finance, IT, and business units to enhance processes, support system upgrades, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in FinanceOne by TechnologyOne, leveraging extensive experience to support, optimise, and enhance the financial system.

  • Design, develop, and optimise ETL builds within FinanceOne, including workflows, data transformations, and process automation to support business requirements.

  • Configure and maintain FinanceOne’s SFTP capabilities and manage ERP system integration using flat file transfers and RESTful APIs, enabling secure, seamless connectivity with other SaaS platforms.

  • Utilise SQL knowledge for effective data querying, reporting, and troubleshooting to provide actionable insights for business stakeholders.

  • Lead and manage annual system upgrades, including planning and executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with cross-functional teams, coordinating Production Verification Testing (PVT), and liaising with vendors to ensure timely defect resolution.

  • Apply IT service management (ITSM) principles to maintain high service quality in complex enterprise environments, supporting both cloud and hybrid configurations.

  • Collaborate within one or more Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) frameworks (such as DevOps, Agile, or Waterfall) to deliver robust solutions and system enhancements.

  • Communicate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve complex incidents, support integration projects, and ensure ongoing system stability.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience, with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience as a subject matter expert in FinanceOne by TechnologyOne with finance domain. High proficiency in the CI platform and CiAnywhere (CiA) experience desirable but not essential.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and optimise ETL builds within FinanceOne, including workflows and data transformations.

  • Familiarity with FinanceOne’s SFTP capabilities and ERP system integration methods, including flat file transfers and RESTful APIs, to enable secure and seamless integration with other SaaS products.

  • SQL knowledge is desirable for effective querying, insightful reporting, and thorough data troubleshooting.

  • Proven capability in managing annual system upgrades, including leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with cross‑functional teams, coordinating Production Verification Testing (PVT), and liaising directly with vendors to drive timely defect resolution.

  • Knowledge of IT service management concepts and experience applying them in complex enterprise environments supporting both cloud and hybrid configurations.

  • Experience working with one or more SDLC methodologies (such as DevOps, Agile, or Waterfall).

  • Strong communication skills to engage credibly with technical teams, suppliers, and business stakeholders, ensuring resolution of complex incidents and delivery of robust integration projects.
