Reporting to the Associate Director - Global Intercompany & Statutory Reporting you will manage a team responsible for recording of both internal and external debt, technical accounting queries, intercompany and statutory reporting. You will work closely with Group Reporting, Technical Accounting, Tax, Company Secretarial, FP&A, Divisional Finance teams as well as Legal and external auditors. You must demonstrate leadership skills, good business judgment and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and have strong project management skills.

What you’ll do

  • Aiding the Finance Managers in the accurate recording and reporting of internal and external debt within the Flutter Group.
  • Working in close partnership with the Group Technical Accounting team to guarantee accurate accounting treatment under IFRS and US GAAP for complex debt instruments and financing arrangements.
  • Serving as the lead contact for complex technical accounting customer issues, working alongside the technical accounting team to clarify doubts and develop practical solutions.
  • Working alongside the transfer pricing and tax teams to handle the accounting for Intercompany arrangements, including leading the Operational Transfer Pricing (OTP) review controls.
  • Leading all aspects of maintaining and improving internal controls. You will partner with internal controls teams and external auditors to ensure alignment with SOX requirements, providing evidence and walkthroughs as needed.
  • Reviewing and approving monthly journal postings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with SOX prioritization requirements.
  • Managing finance transformation projects, collaborating with systems teams, Deloitte, and other collaborators to build and implement new finance systems.
  • Assisting the tax team during audits and returns, particularly with questions concerning intercompany recharges, invoices, and lending.
  • Reviewing payment direction letters (PDLs) and step plans alongside the tax teams to periodically settle intercompany balances.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with key collaborators within Intercompany, statutory reporting, and the broader Global Finance organisation.
  • Managing and developing a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship, while monitoring resourcing needs and team capacity.
  • Conducting high-level analysis and providing relevant commentary on variances in financial packs for assigned departments.
  • Coordinating the accounting for and disclosure of tax workings in conjunction with the Flutter tax team.
  • Supporting ad-hoc projects, including onboarding and integrating further businesses as the Division pursues inorganic growth opportunities.

Experience required:

To succeed in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified Accountant with 6-8+ years of experience, preferably in a multinational/plc environment or a Big-4 accounting firm.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with demonstrated experience in both IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Experience in debt servicing and loan accounting, ideally within a multinational environment, and comfortable working with Treasury and Tax teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing statutory financial statements and streamlining processes.
  • Confidence and assertiveness to operate credibly with senior collaborators.
  • Ability to explain complex accounting issues to non-accountants.
  • Experience with internal control environments (SOX or equivalent) and in implementing reporting & operating process improvements.
  • Solid background in financial accounting and knowledge of current technical accounting matters.
  • Proficiency in financial systems such as Oracle Financials, Hubble, Hyperion/FCCS.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience with accounting for Transfer Pricing agreements within a large corporation.
