Why this role matters  

The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey. 

About the role 

As a Senior Family Violence Men’s Practitioner, this is your opportunity to provide support and intervention to men who have perpetrated family violence. 

This role requires the successful candidate to have access to a private space to deliver the online Men’s Behaviour Change Group programs 

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Bayside Peninsula and Inner Gippsland, this is a permanent full-time role, located in Leongatha, VIC. 

How you will make an impact  

  • Complete intake and assessment for men who use family violence, including ongoing risk assessments and safety planning that prioritise the safety of women and children. 

  • Co-facilitate face-to-face and online Men’s Behaviour Change groups, including after-hours sessions, and provide individual interventions and case coordination for men and their families. 

  • Deliver high-quality, compliant services informed by legislation, contractual obligations and program requirements, maintaining accurate documentation and administrative systems. 

  • Apply a feminist, strengths-based and culturally sensitive framework, ensuring collaboration with the Family Safety Contact Worker and adherence to MARAM, FVISS and CISS frameworks. 

  • Work within an integrated team to support client motivation and behavioural change through realistic case plans, reflective practice, supervision and other duties directed by the Team Leader. 

What you will bring 

  • A Tertiary qualification in Social Work / Social Sciences or related fields (essential) 

  • Demonstrated experience working in the family violence sector and case management 

  • An understanding of the complexities that come with working with Men who use violence 

  • A current VIC drivers licence and employee Working with Children’s Check

Conditions  

Compensation is in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 6
